Ontario Liberals are taking strong action to invest more in patient care. Premier Dalton McGuinty has written to Canada's Premiers urging them to follow Ontario's lead when it comes to modernizing fees paid to doctors as part of a nationwide health strategy — and the other provinces are following suit.
Changes in technology mean that more procedures can be completed in less time, but fees haven't kept pace. To protect the gains made in health care, we need to make the right choices. Here's what provincial health ministers are saying:
The Hudak PCs still aren't talking about health care, choosing instead to focus on a political scheme to sell-off Ontario's energy assets. In 2003, the same move caused skyrocketing electricity bills and added $1 billion to the debt. The Horwath NDP still won't say what they really think about a real wage freeze for doctors, teachers and public servants.
Only Ontario Liberals include a strong Action Plan for Health Care as part of their plan to strengthen Ontario's economy, while protecting the gains we've made together.
