Day 8
October 16th

"Light rail, light rail, light rail. "

Nothing like starting the day off in the old neighborhood!  I was on Preston Street thimageis morning to have some photos taken, my hair of course looked first-rate, since I just had it cut last week by my friend at Carlingwood Mall.  Afterwards, I headed downtown to meet with Sandra Blaikie of A-Channel News, where we engaged in an insightful discussion regarding both the future of garabge disposal and light rail in our community.

Remember that song from elementary school “Don’t throw your junk in my back yard?” Well, we are not going to, daily we are searching for new and innovative ways to reduce garbage.  We have expanded our Blue Box Program, created partnerships with Loeb to recycle plastic bags and we have even converted methane gas into enough electricity to service up to 5000 homes and I am not going to stop there! Look for my environmental plan to be released in the next couple of weeks!

The plan for the expansion of the light-rail system is a topic of increasing discussion. After Minister Bairds unprecedented move to put the future of light rail in jepeordy it seems the people of Ottawa are realizing how much they need it and how much they want it discussed! From radio shows to TV light rail is the hot topic of the day, please make your support of light rail known!

City of OttawaIn the early evening, I was fortunate enough to spend some quality time with the members of our city’s Jewish Community.  I met with the Jewish Federation of Ottawa where I had the opportunity to actively listen to and address their questions, comments and concerns about our city.

The day drew to an end with an invigorating candidate’s debate in Rockliffe.  It was quite a successful evening and I believe that my message is really resonating. I always love the opportunity to speak one-on-one with people, a true benefit of the job.  I encourage everyone to attend and actively participate in the debates, for it is your city and your voice should be heard! I know that if we continue to work together on building this city, we can all make Ottawa an even better place to live.
