Day 13&14
October 21st and 22nd

A sporting weekend.

I began Saturday canvassing Ottawa South with a good friend of mine, Ottawa South MP David McGuinty. It was great to talk with residents one-on-one and the words of encouragement and support are always a great boost, reaffirming my commitment to this great city.

After canvassing for most of the morning and afternoon I headed to O-Ya Centre to announce my Rural Bike Pathways Plan and to spend time at the Osgoode Youth Association’s Community Appreciation Event. image

I believe that this plan will help to maintain Ottawa’s position as the most bike-friendly city in North America. Some of the key points to my plan include eight kilometres of off-road bicycle paths in rural Ottawa over the next four years, enhancing on-road pathways to better connect the City’s cycling network, strengthening the ‘spine’ portion of the cycling network, and creating more bicycle-friendly streets. More details about the plan can be found in a full press release on my website.

I started Sunday with a visit to the Ratanak Bratib Buddhist Temple, a Cambodian Temple on Hazeldean Road. Ottawa is such a culturally diverse city and it is important to have an understanding of the beliefs held by all resident. After the visit, I made my way to the Newport Restaurant to grab a quick bite and to take some photos.

I then went home for a few hours to prepare for tomorrow’s Tourism Ottawa debate before attending the Multicultural Committee of Ottawa (Orleans) ‘Meet the Candidate Bob Monette’ event. It was here that Bob announced he is endorsing my bid for re-election. I thank him for his support and welcome him to the growing team of endorsers.

It has been a great weekend and I am excitied to begin the next week!
